Just this past spring, our very own St. Patrick Catholic School was awarded the prestigious “Lighthouse School Milestone for Leader In Me”—envied by many around the country. It’s easy to see the results of the leadership-infusion by simply walking into the school and interacting with students, staff, parents, and leadership.

At St. Patrick Catholic School, we lead by faith and teach the 7 Habits. We believe that every child is a leader, and we are proud to be designated as a Leader in Me LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL.
Based on the proven leadership principles found in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Dr. Stephen Covey, The Leader in Me program results in higher academic achievement and equips students with the self-confidence and skills they need to meet future challenges and endeavors. The Leader in Me is woven into our curriculum and is a wonderful complement to the emphasis on faith and values that are part of every day at St. Patrick School.
On March, 11, 2018, we were certified as a Lighthouse School after a rigorous review process. The Leader in Me is now a part of our culture. We are the ninth school in the state and the first Catholic school in Iowa to reach this milestone. Check out our 2020 Recertification Letter to see what Franklin Covey has to say about our school!
Through the Leader in Me, we
– Develop essential soft skills in all students
– Identify and nurture the gifts and talents of all students
– Provide authentic learning and leadership opportunities for all students
– Teach students to apply the 7 Habits
"We Lead Wednesday" mornings twice a month provide designated time for service and leadership in addition to what teachers routinely do in their classrooms. Students work collaboratively and apply the 7 Habits every day. They have a voice in our school with jobs and leadership roles.
