I teach music to all the students in Kindergarten through 8th grade at St. Patrick School. I am originally from Indianola, Iowa, where I grew up with my parents and younger brother. Both of my parents and brother have been involved in vocal and/or instrumental music.
I graduated summa cum laude from Wartburg College in May 2010 with a double major in elementary education and applied music and endorsements in reading and music. During my senior year of college I student taught at St. Patrick School in Unit C and coached the 6th grade Math Bee team. While at Wartburg I served as principal clarinet in the Wind Ensemble and the Wartburg Community Symphony.
I had the opportunity to travel abroad with the Wartburg Wind Ensemble to Japan in 2007 and to Europe in 2010. I enjoyed sharing music with people around the world while learning about different countries and cultures! Music truly is a universal language. I continue to play clarinet each summer in the Waterloo Municipal Band.
I am a member of the National Association for Music Education, First Iowa Orff, the International Clarinet Association, and the education honor society, Kappa Delta Pi. I love having the opportunity to combine my passions for music and teaching. I enjoy working with the students at St. Patrick to praise God with the music we make!
